Orchestra wants to teach

The Northern Orchestra takes a different approach when it comes to presenting classical music.

The Northern Orchestra takes a different approach when it comes to presenting classical music.

This orchestra is a teaching, learning and performing group that offers an opportunity for the audience to find out a bit about the music as they hear pieces that might be familiar to them.

On Saturday the Northern Orchestra, led by artistic director and conductor Gordon Lucas, will host a program including Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5 and Schoenberg's Pieces Opus 19. The show takes place at Our Saviour Lutheran Church at 2:30 p.m.
