Prince George RCMP are reminding residents to make plans to get home safely if they are celebrating the holidays this weekend.

Operation Red Nose - a free service which will drive you and your vehicle home - has been running since Nov. 25. On the weekend of Nov. 25, 26, Operation Red Nose volunteers provided 76 rides in Prince George and the weekend of Dec. 2, 3 144 rides.

Other safe alternatives to drinking and driving include appointing a designated driver, taking a taxi or riding the bus.

"Despite the many options available to those that chose to drink this past weekend, officers still located 12 impaired drivers on Prince George roads," RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Craig Douglass said in a press release. "This weekend is expected to be even busier. Please, make the right choice, don?t drink and drive."

Operation Red Nose is available throughout December with the exception of Dec. 23, 24.

Call 250-962-RIDE(7433) between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. to arrange a ride.

The Rotary Club of Prince George-Nechako and ICBC's Road Sense program operate the service. The service is free, but donations made to Operation Red Nose volunteers go back to charities in Prince George through the Rotary Club.
