Operation Red Nose back on the street

A little snowfall isn't going to stop Operation Red Nose.

In all, 28 teams hit the road Friday night, ORN spokesperson Andrea Johnson said.

"Like last year, we expect to be busy this weekend right before Christmas and we want to remind party-goers that we'll be available to provide safe rides home," Johnson said.

To get a ride, call 250-962-RIDE (7433) between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

ORN is a free, designated driving service available during the holiday season organized by the Rotary Club of Prince George Nechako in partnership with the RCMP and ICBC.

Teams of three take clients home in their own vehicles.

The service won't be available on Dec. 27 and 28 but will be back for New Year's Eve.

Volunteers are still needed for that night. Those interested are asked to submit an application by Christmas Eve. The forms are found at www.ornpg.ca and must be dropped off at the community policing office at Sixth and Brunswick.

So far in 2013, Operation Red Nose has provided 563 safe rides home after six nights of service.
