A training exercise involving fire is held at the Prince George Airport in October. Another one is set for Thursday.

An exercise involving firefighters, police, ambulance personnel and local airlines will be held Thursday at Prince George Airport.

Called Operation Pressure Cooker, the exercise will involve real fire, said airport emergency services superintendent Parker Nelson, "so our operations team can truly put their skills to use.

"The flames will be contained to our fire training centre which is in a controlled area. If the public sees black smoke coming from the airport, they don't need to panic."

Canadian aviation regulations require airports to hold an operations-based discussion every year and an operations-based exercise every four years.

It starts at 10 a.m. and runs for four hours.
