A Lower Mainland man was sentenced to one year in jail Wednesday for operating a marijuana grow op just outside of Prince George.

Xuan Man Do, 37, who was issued the term in Prince George provincial court by judge Michael Brecknell, must also pay $8,086 restitution after he was convicted of production of controlled substance and fraudulently consuming electricity or gas.

Do was one of three people arrested on February 25, 2010 after Prince George RCMP executed a search warrant on a Shelley Road South property and uncovered 800 marijuana plants.

Charges against the other two were eventually dropped.

In 2001, Do was sentenced to six months in jail in Vancouver provincial court for possession for the purpose of trafficking, according to court records.
