The Traffic Services RCMP "E" division is investigating after a two-car collision claimed the life of a man and injured a female passenger.

On Oct. 7, a two-vehicle collision was reported on Highway 16 at Geddes Road, roughly 15 kilometres east of Prince George.

Police say it was determined a Dodge pickup containing two individuals was northbound on Geddes Road and may have failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Highway 16 when it was hit by a Ford pickup truck carrying three people.

The male driving the Dodge pickup passed away as a result of his injuries, according to a press release. A female passenger in the Dodge suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The three occupants in the Ford pickup sustained minor injuries.

Cpl. Mike Halskov says the highway was closed for several hours and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service, as well as the B.C. Coroners Service, continue to investigate.

"Road and weather conditions were described as good at the time," he says in the release. "Alcohol has not been ruled out as a possible contributing factor to this collision."

No other information is being released at this time.

Mounties ask anyone with information regarding the collision who has not already spoken with police, to contact the Prince George Regional Traffic Services at 250-649-4004.
