The perfect in-between Christmas and News Year's activity is a guided snowshoe tour at Otway under the brilliant starlight.

There will be a variety of guided tours available, led by Otway volunteers, to accommodate different ability levels. You don’t have to participate in a tour and can set out on your own, but if you are new to the trails, especially at night, staff strongly recommend it!

Also, remember to bring a headlamp!

You will also be able to warm up by the fire at the gravel pit with s’mores and hot chocolate and Bailey’s will be available to those who need a little extra warming.

Then finish the night in the lodge, enjoy a drink (or two! or three!) with friends. One drink ticket, hot soup and snacks are included with the purchase of a ticket. Beer, wine and cider will also be available for $5 each.

The snowshoe tours will begin at 6 p.m., but you’ll need to arrive earlier to sign in, find your group leaders and put on your equipment. Rentals will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis in the rental office.

All proceeds go toward the school's ski programs but you must be over 19 years old to participate so remember to bring your ID.

The event takes place Friday, Dec. 27 and is hosted by the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club (CNSC), affectionately known as Otway, and is located at 8141 Otway Rd.

You can purchase tickets for the snowshoe online. It will set you back $33.50 for non-members (that includes the snowshoe trail pass); CNSC members will pay $25.
