Why not finish up the holidays shredding some fresh powder?

Purden Ski Village, a 45-minute drive east of Prince George, is opening for the first time this season on Boxing Day.

Not only is it the opening day of the season, but it’s also Purden Ski Village’s 50th anniversary and to celebrate lift tickets are 50 per cent off.

The mountain will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. so come early to make the most of the day! The Baker Creek Chair and the T-Bar will be open but the Yellow Chair is still closed.

Purden is central British Columbia's largest ski mountain with 26 named runs and features over 1,100 vertical feet of skiing on dry powder snow, treed runs and uncrowded slopes. The longest run, (Lakeview) has over two miles of terrain.

Purden was founded in 1968 by Roder Lundgren and Gordon Sahlin. To take a look back on 50 years gone by, this video shows behind-the-scenes footage of the work that went into making Pruden Ski Village what it is today.

To get to Purden travel 60 km east on Highway 16 until you get to the marked turnoff, then travel 4 km until you get to the mountain.

The conditions are currently fair to good, with better snow in the upper elevations.  You can also check the snow report here before you head out.
