As Prince George is no stranger to bear and human conflicts, a local society is hosting an evening for the public to discuss bear and garbage issues in the city.

The Northern Bear Awareness Society is holding a presentation called Bears, Bylaws and Bungee Cords which will be an open forum that focuses on issues relating to bear and human conflicts.

The group will be giving an overview of the current situation in the city and invite participants to share their ideas for practical solutions.

They will address everything from securing garbage cans with bungee cords, to encouraging the city to develop and enforce stricter bylaws.

Following the presentation and discussion, the group will also hold their annual general meeting. They are inviting those who are passionate about bears stay and attend the meeting as well as to consider joining their board of directors.

The Northern Bear Awareness Society’s mission is to reduce conflict in neighbourhoods between people and bears through education, innovation, and cooperation.

The event will be held at the Keith Gordon Room at the Prince George Public Library from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 5.
