An incredibly powerful opera performance will be in Prince George next month.

Pacific Opera is scheduled to stop in three Canadian cities to give a voice to murdered and Indigenous women in English and Gitksan.

B.C. Indigenous playwright and filmmaker Marie Clements and Juno award-winning composer Brian Current share a poetic expression of loss and hope set in Vancouver’s downtown eastside and on the Highway of Tears.

The performance, titled Missing, officially premiered in 2017 in Vancouver and Victoria with both shows being sold out.

The creative team, as well as many of the artists who were in the original premiere, are reuniting again.

Pacific Opera Victoria and City Opera Vancouver are partnering with Regina Symphony Orchestra, Prince George Symphony Orchestra (PGSO), Victoria Native Friendship Centre, Prince George Native Friendship Centre (PGNFC) and Regina Treaty/Status Indian Services to bring the experience to other Canadian cities.

Prince George will have three showtimes:

  • Friday, Nov. 15 - 7 to 8:45 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 16 - 2 to 3:45 p.m.
  • Sunday, Nov. 17 - 7 to 8:45 p.m.

All shows take place at the Uda Dune Baiyoh Conference Center (House of Ancestors) located at 355 Vancouver St.

Tickets are $35 for general admission and $15 for students.
