Another 'adventure cruise' to help alleviate COVID-19 pandemic-holiday blues is in the works.
The crew that brought Prince George the Candy Cruise and Family Day Adventure Cruise is gearing up to help the community celebrate Easter.
Dubbed 'The Most EGGcellent Cruise,' which takes place April 3, the event is set to work the same way as its predecessors.
Interested participants will have to download an EGGcellent Cruise Card, which will lead them on a quest to get as many of the 25 activities completed in a five-hour span, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Organizer Dave Horton says the objectives will take you all over Prince George to capture photos, complete tasks and pick up free giveaway items.
“We (the many who have organized, sponsored and made these events happen) have not been able to help directly combat COVID-19 but we have been able to lift the spirits of our community by creating accessible and safe ideas,” he explains.
“The change of seasons, vaccine roll out and loosening of restrictions is starting but until more change happens we must continue to serve those in greatest need.”
The downloadable cards are scheduled to be posted on Saturday, April 3 at 10:45 a.m., and check it off when you complete a challenge.
To ensure that everyone has a chance to participate, Horton says many activities can be completed by using public transit, walking or your personal vehicle.
You're asked to post photos with a copy of your filled card to Instagram or Facebook before 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday (April 4) with #pgeggcellentcruise.
Prizes vary for specific age groups, including a snowboard, iPad, and multiple gift cards for university and college students.
Some of the general prizes include a Nintendo Switch, six kids bikes, a VR experience package, an Easter basket and many gift cards for local businesses.
Winners will be drawn from different categories like completed cards, partially completed cards, best photo, random draws and more.
Horton asks everyone that chooses to participate to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines, keep physical distancing from other households while completing challenges, wear a mask in public areas, drive safely at all times and, above all, have fun.
Anyone in a group/vehicle that's sick or experiencing symptoms of the virus is asked to stay home and not participate.
