Instead of throwing away your garbage, maybe you can make a sequon dress out of it.
Sounds crazy, right? Well, local artists and designers are being encouraged to get creative and get their hands dirty for a new first-of-its-kind fashion show in Prince George.
Hosted by Two Rivers Gallery and MakerLab, the ‘Trashion’ Show will showcase unique, wearable art made from materials that take an ecological spin on the world of fashion.
This includes anything that’s recycled, repurposed, waste, natural, considered junk, or destined to end up in a landfill.
The catwalk will be set up on May 25 for interested artists, who must be 16 years of age or older to participate.
Applications are available via the Two Rivers Gallery website and must be submitted by April 15.
“Two Rivers Gallery reserves the right to decline participation in the Trashion Show if the artist’s design is not finished, considered unsafe, not made from recycled materials, or for any other reason deemed necessary,” says the facility in a social media post.
More details are up on the event’s Facebook page.
So, does this mean we can expect an appearance from the Paperbag Princess?
