Olympic flame in Prince George

The Torch Relay will go through Prince George Jan. 29. Residents can share the spirit of the games and cheer on local torchbearers from the community.

Residents can share the spirit of the games and cheer on local torchbearers from the community.

There will be a celebration at Exhibition Park near the Kin Centres with live music, guest speakers.

The Torch Relay will end with the ceremonious lighting of the community cauldron by Kelly Road student and national team downhill skier, Alix Wells.

Residents can take a look at the Olympic mascots, enjoy free giveaways and interactive booths from the official sponsors Coke and RBC, and a grand finale fireworks display.

Because Jan. 29 is also a Pro-D-Day there is a free public skate at CN Centre and the Ice Oval from 3 to 5 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. The CN Centre will be transformed with lights and music to provide the perfect atmosphere for the entire family to embrace the Olympic spirit. Free skate rentals will also be available. Look for other Olympic-themed activities at Pro-D-Day sessions throughout the city.
