Chances are you know a baby by the name of Olivia.
According to an analysis done by the Vital Statistics Agency from Jan. 1 to Dec. 18 of this year, it was the most popular baby name in the province. Each year, the agency gathers the most favoured baby names from B.C. birth registrations.
Runners up were: Oliver, Lucas, Liam, Ethan, Noah, William, Benjamin, Charlotte, Emma and Leo. These were names that appeared five or more times throughout the study.
Liam was the top choice in 2018, a name given to 283 boys across B.C., followed by the names Olivia, Emma, Lucas, Oliver, Benjamin, Ethan, Noah, Logan and Amelia.
40,978 babies were born in B.C. from Jan. 1 to Dec. 18, 2019, in comparison to the 43,844 born in 2018.
