A midnight snack lit up the night for one Prince George household.

Prince George Fire-Rescue Service responded to an emergency call from a home in the 400 block of Beech Crescent. It happened shortly after midnight, said assistant chief Elden Gjerde. Sixteen firefighters from three halls came to the incident, and an

ambulance was also needed.

"The first arriving engine crew quickly extinguished the fire," he said. "The residence was occupied at the time and one person was transported to [University Hospital of Northern B.C.] by ambulance; the other occupants were uninjured."

The injuries to the one in hospital were not

life-threatening.

"The fire was caused by cooking with oil that had spilt on an element while being moved," said Gjerde. "Damage was confined to the kitchen."

Fire crews were finished their work about an hour after arrival. The damage estimate was put at about $15,000.
