Northland Dodge top selling Chrysler dealership

A year-end surge is being credited for making Northland Dodge a top seller among Chrysler dealerships in four categories.

The Prince George dealership finished first nationwide in retail truck sales for 2011 and, for the sixth year running, sold the most vehicles in general among Chrysler dealerships in B.C.

And as a bonus, Northland was the top seller for December for Canada as a whole.

The truck sales title was particularly sweet for Northland Dodge operations manager Landon LeDuce.

By the end of the year, 895 Dodge Ram pickup trucks had been sold.

"We were 75 units behind [the leader] at the beginning of November, so in a two-month span we pulled together and got a 37 unit lead when it all washed out," LeDuce said Thursday.

"The last 60 days, everybody was skipping their days off and going absolutely the extra mile."

Of course, the customers played an important part.

"We had customers who knew we were pushing for this and they were coming out of the woodwork," LeDuce said. "I mean, they were one or two years into a brand-new vehicle and had absolutely no reason to trade other than to help us out.

It took 1,409 sales over the year to win the race among B.C. dealerships for most vehicles sold. And 175 of those sales were made in December to win that month.
