Northern Health remains at 60 test-confirmed COVID-19 cases, provincial total now 2,446

Health officials say 1,975 people have recovered from the virus

B.C. now has a total of 2,446 COVID-19 cases, according to the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix. 

Henry announced this afternoon (May 19) that B.C. has recorded just two new cases in the past 24 hours. 

Northern Health has recorded no new test-positive cases, keeping the authority total at 60.

This includes two admitted in hospital, one in ICU and 54 recovered cases.

There are 883 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 1,196 in Fraser Health, 126 on Vancouver Island and181 in Interior Health.

There are 45 people hospitalized across the province with 12 of those in acute care/ICU.

B.C. now has 325 active cases.

Henry said there have been another three deaths confirmed, raising the total to 146 province-wide.

Officials also added a total of 1,975 have recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in isolation. 

Beginning today, many businesses that had been closed due to the pandemic can "begin the process of safely reopening," said Henry. The public health officer's revised orders can be found on the province's website
