Northern Health records no new test-positive confirmed COVID-19 cases, province now at 2,112

Another two deaths recorded

B.C. will finish the month of April with 2,112 COVID-19 cases according to new numbers announced by B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix this afternoon.

Henry says there have been 25 new cases in the past 24 hours. 

Northern Health sits at 46 test-positive confirmed cases with zero new cases recorded in the past day.

There are 815 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), 961 in Fraser Health, 120 on Vancouver Island and 170 in the Interior Health region.

There are 82 people in hospitals across B.C. with 30 of those cases in ICU and critical care.

Henry added there have been two new deaths which brings the total to 111 provincial wide. There are no new outbreaks in long-term care facilities. There are 24 active outbreaks in long-term facilities and three acute care unit outbreaks in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions, with 256 residents affected and 153 staff. Outbreaks are declared over at 12 care facilities. 

The outbreak at the Mission federal correctional institute in the Fraser Valley has continued to grow. The number of positive COVID-19 increased by 12 and is now 120. An investigation is going and the health authority expects more people may develop symptoms in the coming days and weeks. 

A total of 50 people have tested positive in the ongoing outbreak at Superior Poultry, a chicken processing plant in Coquitlam. The number of positive cases related to the initial outbreak announced earlier this week at United Poultry Company Ltd., a Vancouver processing plant, has remained steady at 42. Investigations are ongoing at both plants.

A total of 1,322 have recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in isolation.
