Northern Health is looking for bids for a project to prepare the site for the new Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre in Burns Lake.
Work is expected to start next month to prepare the site for the new building, however the tender process for the design and construction of the facility itself is ongoing. The provincial government hopes to award the full construction contract in March 2013.
The building is slated to be completed during the summer of 2015 with a budget of $50 million to $55 million.
The existing hospital was built in 1960 and government officials determined it would be more cost-effective to replace it rather than refurbish the facility.
