Northern Development has expanded a rebate program for businesses affected by the downturn the forest sector to include those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the economic development agency said Wednesday.
The newly-named small business recovery consulting rebate program will reimburse small and medium sized businesses for contracted consulting services to the tune of up to 85 per cent of the cost and a maximum of $25,000.
The program has also been adjusted to help businesses transition to e-commerce and other types of operation during current social and physical distancing restrictions, as well as for operational and systems improvements and repositioning for a long-term return to profitability.
To be eligible, businesses must be privately owned with less than 500 employees and annual revenues of less than $100 million. Startups and publicly traded businesses are not eligible.
Funding applications are continuously accepted to this program and a decision is made within one week of receiving the completed application and consultant proposal.
