Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. will be the tentative operating hours for the new Fort St. John Health Services Centre, located at 10067 100th Ave, Northern Health says.
The site is expected to open by the end of November and is planned as an overdose prevention services site and warming centre, with an indoor substance use space, enclosed outdoor inhalation area, referrals to treatment options and harm reduction services.
An intensive case management team will be on site, and additional services may be added following the initial launch, wrote Eryn Collins, media relations with Northern Health, in an email.
“Staff will include registered nurses, mental health and substance use clinicians, life skills workers and others,” Collins noted.
The site replaces an overdose prevention van, which was destroyed in a fire caused by arson.
