Northern B.C. man sentenced for identity theft, stolen property

A Fort St. John man has been sentenced for possession of stolen property and was facing 26 counts of possessing another person’s identity documents.

Frank Boostrom, 45, was found guilty Nov. 7  and sentenced in the Fort St. John Law Courts for possession of stolen property over $5,000, identity theft, and resisting arrest. 

Boostom will serve two years of probation for the three charges, which were committed in Charlie Lake on May 31, 2020. Charges for possessing another person’s identity documents were stayed at the sentencing hearing. 

Boostrom was further charged with personation with intent to avoid arrest on July 22, 2023, in Vancouver and was sentenced to 43 days in jail and another two years of probation on Nov. 7. 

The sentence would have been 60 days, but he was given 17 days credit, explained the B.C. Prosecution Service

Boostrom was also found guilty of theft of $5,000 or under for a second incident in Vancouver on Dec. 2, 2022, and given another two years of probation.
