More than 200 northern B.C. First Nations leaders and health care workers will gather in Prince George next week to discuss the impact of addictions in northern First Nations communities.

More than 200 elected First Nations leaders and healthcare workers will be in Prince George next week to discuss the impacts of addiction and the toxic drug crisis in First Nations communities in northern B.C.

The Northern Addictions Forum will take place at the Prince George and Conference Centre from March 21 to March 23.

“The topics under discussion will include engagement on gaps in services for First Nations communities, stigma, land-based healing approaches and treatment options, and best practices,” a statement released by the First Nations Health Authority said.

Inuit NHL Star Jordin Tootoo will speak about his personal experience with addiction and leading addictions expert Dr. Gabor Maté will give a presentation.
