The whereabouts of a missing woman from North Vancouver may have a Prince George link.

Angeline Pete, 28, was last seen by her usual circle of loved ones in May and was reported missing on Aug. 8. All efforts to locate her have been in vain and the case has been assigned to the North Vancouver RCMP's Serious Crime Unit.

Pete has not made contact with her usual loved ones and investigators have learned that she has not used any of her social media websites nor has she accessed her bank accounts since in the period she has been missing.

"Information has surfaced that Pete may have hitchhiked her way north through the province and possibly into Alberta but investigators have not yet been able to corroborate this information," said North Vancouver RCMP spokesman Cpl. Richard De Jong. "The fact that Pete may have hitchhiked through B.C. naturally raises the concern for her safety."

This city's police announced Wednesday that they have become involved.

"She is believed to have local relatives. It makes Prince George a possible destination for her, if she is travelling," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.

This is new information police are now following. Prince George was not on the original list of communities she was thought to be connected with.

There are no outstanding warrants for Pete's arrest, the search is purely for the sake of her personal safety, the police liaisons said, a fact underscored by her fearful mother.

"I am reaching out to anybody who knows my daughter for her safe return home," Pete's mother said. "We just need to know that you are safe and sound and well looked after. Please call home. We love you princess."

Angeline Pete is described as an aboriginal female, 28 years old, five feet four inches tall and 150 lbs. She has long dark hair (known to occasionally dye it), brown eyes (wears contacts), and has a tattoo of a butterfly on her chest.
