Northern Health's long-term care and assisted-living facilities have the lowest COVID-19 vaccination rates in the province, according to data released by the B.C. Centre for Disease Control on Friday.

As of Feb. 15, 85 per cent of long-term care residents (1,025 out of 1,206) and 86 per cent of assisted-living residents (247 out of 287) in the Northern Health region had been vaccinated against COVID-19.

"Obviously people move into long-term care, so we have to maintain this data over time," Health Minister Adrian Dix said on Friday. "Next week we'll have data on staff (immunization rates) as well."

Across B.C., 91 per cent of long-term care residents and 95 per cent of assisted-living residents had been vaccinated. The Fraser Health region had the highest rates, with 92 per cent of long-term care and 97 per cent of assisted-living residents having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In the Northern Health region, the vaccination rate ranged from 100 per cent at facilities like Jubilee Lodge and Birchview Residences in Prince George, down to just 33 per cent at the Houston Health Centre.

The vaccination rate for residents at facilities in Prince George are listed below:

• Birchview Residences, 100 per cent (20 of 20)

• Laurier Manor, 73 per cent (27 of 37)

• Parkside Intermediate Care Home, 88 per cent (53 of 60)
