North Cariboo residents will get a chance to weigh in on a new arena proposal for Quesnel.
Eligible voters in Quesnel and those within the North Cariboo recreation and parks service boundary will go to the polls in June to vote on a plan to build a new 1,600-seat arena in Quesnel. The plan calls for government to borrow up to $7.5 million over 20 years to build the steel and wood structure, which will be located next to existing arenas.
Advance voting will take place at Quesnel city hall on June 4 and June 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. General voting is set for June 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at six different locations.
According to a news release from the Cariboo Regional District and the City of Quesnel, voters will be asked: "Are you in favour of the Cariboo Regional District adopting Loan Authorization Bylaw 4905 to borrow up to $7.5 million over 20 years to provide for the construction of a new arena as part of the North Cariboo Recreation and Parks Service?"
