A forest fire in the Norman Lake region west of Prince George has been contained and the evacuation alert has been lifted by the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George.
Fire crews sent to the area Friday when it was first reported at about 1:30 p.m. successfully fought the flames and Sunday's steady rainfall further dampened the embers. The fire touched an area of about seven hectares.
Twenty firefighters and one helicopter were used to fight the blaze.
Dry conditions and hot weather the past week created high forest fire risks and many regions of the province have imposed campfire bans.
In May 2015, a fire near Norman Lake burned 17,000 hectares.
