Ski club really cleans up

The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club cleaned up a vast span of Highway 16 West recently.
Caledonia Nordic Ski Club athletes, families and volunteers took to Highway 16 west of Prince George to collect close to 200 bags of garbage between Bobtail Forest Service Road overpass near Bednesti Lake and Upper Mud River Road.

It took about 60 volunteers to make a clean sweep of the 33 km stretch of highway.

The effort was in partnership with Yellowhead Road and Bridge and saw them come together to help athletes achieve their mandate of continuing their training on dry land.

The athletes are from 13 to 20 years old and train year round with their teammates. Only about four months of training is actually done on the snow at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Centre on Otway Road. For the rest of the year, the team comes together to run, roller ski, strength train and hike.
