Nominations open for volunteers

The observations of the public get turned into accolades for the best of the city's volunteers.

The observations of the public get turned into accolades for the best of the city's volunteers. City Hall is collecting nominations for the outstanding service providers of Prince George who go their extra miles without getting any personal financial or material gain. However, the City of Prince George thinks they should at least get some proper thanks.

"Volunteers are the heart of our community and we need your help in recognizing those that give so much of themselves for others," said Cheryl Livingstone-Leman, the city's Recreation Co-ordinator. "If you know of a volunteer who has made a significant contribution please let us know."

There are four types of awards including the Recreation Award, Community Service Award, Youth of the Year Award and the Outstanding Volunteer Award.

Each year these individuals are given honour at the Civic Appreciation Dinner which, this year, will be held April 16.

Nominations are due by 4:30 pm on March 16th, 2011 and can be submitted to the Service Centre at City Hall.

For more information or to obtain a nomination package please contact Community Services at 250-561-7640 or log on to www.city.pg.bc.ca, click on "Residents Information," then click on "Awards and Recognition."
