Readers who have a place in Prince George or area where they like to go have an opportunity to nominate their special place for the title of Canada's greatest place.

Some of the best loved streets, neighbourhoods and public places in the B.C. interior have already been nominated, but there's still time to ensure your favourite locale is in the running, David Crossley, executive director of Planning institute of B.C. (PIBC) said in news release.

Already nominated are sites like Barkerville, Bowron Lakes, Morfee Lake in Mackenzie, Quesnel Forks, Wells Gray Provincial Park and Candy Cane Lane in Prince George.

The contest is being sponsored by Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) as a way to recognize the work of professional planners and to join with all Canadians in a celebration of this country. The PIBC is the western affiliate of the Canadian Institute of Canada.

To participate, visit the web site at www,GreatPlacesInCanada.com to nominate, write about and post images of the site that inspires you.

Making a nomination enters you into a draw for prizes, or you can vote for places already nominated.

The deadline for nominations and voting is March 25, after which a panel of planners will select finalists with winners being announced in May.

The mayor of each winning location will receive a plaque and winning nominators will also receive

awards.

PIBC members work in such fields as environmental resource management, land and economic development, heritage conservation, and land, social and transportation planning.
