Mounties have confirmed there are no survivors from a plane crash last night (Dec. 10) on the north-west corner of Gabriola Island.
BC RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Chris Manseau confirmed the news this morning (Dec. 11) in an emailed statement.
BC Coroners Service Spokesperson Andy Watson told PrinceGeorgeMatters at approximately 6:30 p.m. yesterday, reports of a possible plane crash on Gabriola Island were received by local RCMP.
"Because of the nature of plane crashes, this event will be investigated in partnership with the Transportation Safety Board (TSB), who has been notified and will be attending the scene on Dec. 11," an email reads.
"The crash scene will be held by the Gabriola RCMP until the arrival of the TSB."
Watson added the BC Coroners Service were also notified of fatalities and are in the beginning stages of its fact-finding investigation to determine who, where, when and how the deceased "came to their sudden, unexpected deaths."
