No new COVID-19 cases or deaths were reported in the Northern Health region on Friday.
The number of active cases in the region remained steady at 30, according to a statement issued by the B.C. Ministry of Health on Friday. There were two people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the north, both of whom were in critical care, according to B.C. Centre for Disease Control data.
No new COVID-related deaths were reported in British Columbia on Friday, leaving the province’s death toll from the pandemic at 1,760 – including 157 people from northern B.C.
Forty-five new cases of COVID-19 were reported across the province on Friday, and there were 661 active cases in B.C. A total of 73 British Columbians were hospitalized with COVID, with 19 of those people in intensive care.
More than 5.56 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C. – 3.64 million first doses and 1.91 million second doses. Across the province, 78.6 per cent of people aged 12 and up have received at least one dose and 41.3 per cent were fully vaccinated.
In the Northern Health region, a total of 255,876 doses have been administered, including 161,283 first doses and 94,593 second doses.
As of July 5, 70 per cent of people aged 12 and up in the Prince George local health area had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 148,031 cases of COVID-19 in B.C., of which 145,594 people have recovered. Of those cases, 7,803 have been in the Northern Health region.
