No new COVID-19 deaths in B.C., Northern Health stays at 65 test-confirmed cases

B.C. now has 2,756 recorded test-confirmed COVID-19 cases after the latest update from Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Minister of Health Adrian Dix this afternoon (June 16). 

Henry announced 11 new cases have been discovered in the past 24 hours. Ten of those are confirmed while one case is classified as epidemiological.

In Northern Health, there have been no new cases recorded which keeps the total at 65.

There were also no new deaths in the past day, keeping that total at 168. It's the fourth straight day that B.C. has had no newly reported fatalities. 

Of the number of provincial cases, there are 172 active, which also includes 11 people being treated in hospital and five in intensive care.

There are 940 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,426 in Fraser Health 130 in Island Health and 195 in Interior Health.

Officials added a total of 2,416 patients have recovered from the virus and are no longer required to be in isolation. 

B.C. once again has five seniors' homes that have active outbreaks of COVID-19 with a new outbreak at Langley Maple Hill long-term care centre at Langley Memorial Hospital. 

Four other active outbreaks at seniors' living facilities include:  

  • Vancouver's Holy Family Hospital
  • Port Coquitlam's Nicola Lodge
  • Langley's Langley Lodge
  • Abbotsford's Valhaven Home
