The city fire service has confirmed that a person died in a fire on Quince Street on Friday, Sept. 27.
They found fire and smoke coming from a side entrance and in the backyard of one half of a duplex, and quickly put it out.
"Once the fire was extinguished, a deceased person was located inside the home," the city fire service states in a press release.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
"This residence is known to police and has been the subject of police investigations in the past," the release states. "Further updates will be provided as the investigation develops."
Damage is estimated at $80,000.
No firefighters were injured, Prince George Fire Rescue reported.
