No evidence of Legionnaires' disease says Northern Health

Inspections of hotels in Valemount have uncovered no sources of Legionnaires' disease, Northern Health said Friday.

Inspections of hotels in Valemount have uncovered no sources of Legionnaires' disease, Northern Health said Friday.

"We have completed the routine inspections of hotels in Valemount and we have found no sources of defective or poorly disinfected water-based facilities that may have led to Legionnaires' disease," Northern Health said in a statement.

"We believe this was an isolated case and there is no need for concern."

An Alberta man showed symptoms of disease after first showing symptoms of the potentially fatal bacterial infection during a recent snowmobiling trip to Valemount, 210 kilometres east of Prince George.

Legionnaires produces high fever and pneumonia and is contracted by inhaling fine airborne particles through the air or through water mist.
