Brides and grooms in Prince George have a new place to tell their stories and find the latest wedding-related deals.
The Sweetheart Bridal Show is celebrating its 22nd year with a brand new website chock full of information on how to budget for the big day as well as the latest in fashion, beauty and style trends.
The site, hosted by the Citizen, also has a section that allows couples to post their engagement and wedding stories using words, photos and video. They can update their stories throughout the process, sharing their thoughts on such things as the best wedding music and their favourite wedding vendors.
"With over 97 per cent of brides planning online and 52 per cent looking for local resources first, we thought it was critical for us to have a fresh online presence that - combined with our show and print product - gives those getting married all the resources they need to plan the perfect wedding," said Citizen director of advertising Lu Verticchio.
The site is already up and running at www.sweetheartbridal.ca. It includes a wide range of videos, including the latest in wedding dress collections to proposal videos uploaded by couples.
Weddings are a big deal in this city - on average there's a wedding a day in Prince George, with 364 couples exchanging vows in the city in 2011 according to figures provided by the provincial government. July and August were the most popular months to tie the knot in the city, accounting for 169 weddings, or 46 per cent of the city's total.
The Sweetheart Bridal Show itself will take place on Feb. 24 at the Civic Centre. In addition to a host of exhibitors, there will also be workshops for engaged couples to help the wedding planning experience go smoothly. The show will offer brides, grooms and their wedding parties a chance to talk to experts, check out dresses, food displays and decorating ideas to get inspiration for putting the final touches on planning.
