New provincial standards for radio-calling procedures on resource roads go into effect today, an initiative which is part of an ongoing government-industry effort to increase safety in the forest sector.
The effort is targeted at the hundreds of thousands of kilometres of resource roads - some of which are single-lane gravel roads - largely used by loggers and log haulers. However, the initiative has been expanded to include other growing sectors like mining and oil and gas.
