New program for crime addicts

A new program has been launched at Baldy Hughes Addiction Treatment Centre and Therapeutic Community for addicts who turn to crime to support their habits and then become hooked to the thrill of stealing cars or breaking into homes.

The idea is to not only prevent people from ending up in jail but also to dull those spikes in crime whenever a prolific offender is released only to go on another spree, says Baldy Hughes executive director Marshall Smith.
