For the second time in just a few days, a mud slide has struck Highway 16 East.
The highway was down to single-lane alternating 23 kilometres east of Slim Creek on Tuesday although a Ministry of Transportation official said the damage amounts to a small, six inch, depression that extends partially into one of the lanes.
"The lane has been closed for the safety of the travelling public due to the depression in the travel surface, and it is not anticipated that significant movement will continue," the official said.
"Once it is confirmed there is no further movement, it is anticipated that the damage can be repaired quickly and the highway opened to traffic in both directions."
On Monday afternoon, a crew had cleared up the highway seven kilometres west of of the junction with Highway 5 after a mud slide reached the road on the weekend.
