New legislation protects Canadian water

The Feds are tabling the Boundary and Transboundary Waters Treaty Act today.

This means that Canada's water is protected from bulk removal outside of the country.

"Now, rivers and streams that cross the border will now fall under the same protection that has been in place for water that straddles our border, like the Great Lakes," said Dick Harris, MP for Cariboo-Prince George and Conservative's B.C. Caucus Chair.

This Legislation tabled by Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon makes it clear that Canadian water isn't a commodity, nor is it for sale.
