Crews from the City of Prince George are installing a new controlled crosswalk at the intersection of Tyner Boulevard, Baker Road and Gannett Road.

A new, controlled crosswalk is being installed at the intersection of Tyner Boulevard, Baker Road and Gannet Road.

The crosswalk will include flashing lights which pedestrians can activate to alert drivers they are crossing the road, according to a statement issued by the city. The project, which is expected to be completed in July, was identified as a high priority to upgrade in the city's Pedestrian Crossing Strategy, which was adopted in 2020.

The Tyner crossing was one of 17 new crosswalks needed in the city to meet national safety guidelines, the report identified. In addition, 26 existing crosswalks were in need of safety upgrades at the time of the report.

The city has since installed and upgrades some of the identified intersections.
