Aboriginal students looking towards a career in education will be eligible for bursaries of up to $5,000 per year with the establishment of a new program.
Unveiled Friday, the $2-million Aboriginal Teacher Education Award will be administered by the Irving K. Barber B.C. Scholarship Society, which works with the Victoria Foundation to provide scholarships and awards.
To date, the society has awarded more than $3.8 million from six programs, including $794,000 to 251 Aboriginal students in B.C.
