Prince George RCMP have noticed a spike in property crime in two areas in and around the city.
Since Sept. 1, more than 25 incidents of mischief and thefts from vehicles in the Heritage-Tabor neighbourhoods have been reported to the detachment.
Most have been committed overnight.
Also since the start of this month, there have been several instances of break and enters and thefts of vehicles in Buckhorn-Pineview outside city limits, with the crimes being committed during the day when people are not home.
"Both of these spikes are unusual and investigators do not believe the same persons are responsible for both increases," Cpl. Craig Douglass said Thursday.
"Police are actively engaged in both these investigations and are looking for the public's help in identifying the persons responsible," Douglass said. "We are asking residents to review surveillance images they may have and report all suspicious activity no matter what time of day."
Anyone who sees criminal activity in progress is urged to call 911 immediately.
And anyone with information on the crimes that have been committed is asked contact the Prince George RCMP at 250-561-3300 or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.pgcrimestoppers.bc.ca or Text-A-Tip to 274637 using keyword "pgtips."
Callers who provide information that leads to an arrest are eligible for a cash reward and they do not have to reveal their identities to Crime Stoppers.
