Nearly 200 new COVID-19 cases reported in Northern Health on Tuesday

The B.C. Ministry of Health reported 192 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region on Tuesday.

However, the number of active cases in the region dropped from 1,235 reported on Monday to 1,1,05 on Tuesday. As of Tuesday, 39 people in the region were hospitalized with COVID-19, of which 15 were in critical care, according to B.C. Centre for Disease Control data.

No new COVID-related deaths were reported in the Northern Health region on Tuesday, leaving the region’s death toll from the pandemic at 288.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been 26,329 cases of COVID-19 reported in the Northern Health region.

As of Tuesday, 90.3 per cent of eligible British Columbians (aged five and older) had received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 84.7 per cent have received two doses.

A total of 10.99 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., including 508,746 doses in the Northern Health region.
