Thomas Mulcair, NDP deputy leader, is currently touring British Columbia and stopping in Prince George Monday morning.

Mulcair will hold a meet and greet with party members at Books and Company at 11:30 a.m.

The tour will also take the Quebec MP through the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, Kamloops and Merritt.

Last week, Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen held his own leadership campaign event at Nancy O's.

There are eight candidates in the race to succeed the late Jack Layton as leader of the Official Opposition.

The other six candidates are Churchill MP Niki Ashton, Ottawa Centre MP Paul Dewar, Parkdale-High Park MP Peggy Nash, Abitibi-James Bay-Nunavik-Eeyou MP Romeo Saganash, Nova Scotia riding association president Martin Singh and national NDP president Brian Topp.

Party members will vote on their new leader March 24.
