Delegates to the North Central Local Government Association endorsed resolutions from the Fraser-Fort George Regional District during their annual general meeting in Smithers last week.

Delegates to the North Central Local Government Association endorsed resolutions from the Fraser-Fort George Regional District during their annual general meeting in Smithers last week.

Resolutions from the FFGRD calling for the restoration of grants to non-profit organizations raised through gaming and and to adequately fund education and rural schools will be advanced to the Union of British Columbia Municipalities convention in September.

Delegates also supported a late resolution from the City of Prince George calling on Canadian Interuniversity Sport to reconsider its decision to deny membership to the University of Northern British Columbia.

FFGRD chair Art Kaehn was promoted to first vice chair for the year.

And perhaps the biggest development was acceptance of the Nisga'a Village of Gitwinksihlkw as a member - the first First Nations local government to become an NCLGA member.
