Nature centre input sought

The manager of the City of Prince George's Community Forest is calling together the city's conservation-minded groups to see if they are interested in developing a nature interpretive centre.

Dan Adamson is hosting a meeting at City Hall this fall to get input from the groups with connections to the great outdoors. About 20 local groups have already shown initial interest.

"This is not a new idea but there has been a resurgence of interest," he said. "Do enough people like this idea? Is there a willingness to do the pre-feasibility work? We just want to get the people into the room to have the initial conversation."

The goal of an interpretive centre would be to foster education about the region's ecosystems, pique community interest in our local flora and fauna, have a central location for other groups to use as a compliment to their activities, and give tourists a place to access additional information and get questions answered.

The gathering will be held Sept. 19 in the second floor boardroom at City Hall.
