National Child Day

National Child Day Saturday is the time for Canadians to celebrate our greatest resource which is our children.

National Child Day Saturday is the time for Canadians to celebrate our greatest resource which is our children.

The Canadian Child Care Federation has declared this year's theme as `the right to freedom of expression' which is Article 13 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Article 13 says, "The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or print, in art form, or through other media of the child's choice."

Canadians are encouraged to get involved with National Child Day activities such as wearing a royal blue ribbon to show support for National Child Day, sharing a book, snack, outing or conversation with a child, sending a card to a child, caregiver, or teacher in honor of the day, talk to local politicians about the day, or encourage a child to express themselves through art, writing or talking.
