A man is in hospital with serious head injuries after he was was found laying in the street early Sunday morning.
The Prince George resident was in the vicinity of his own home in the 4100 block of 1st Avenue when a neighbour noticed the fallen figure at about 6:30 a.m. BC Ambulance Service paramedics and RCMP were called. The man was not able to communicate with investigators at the scene.
Police are now investigating to find out if he came by his injuries due to anything ranging from a fall to assault.
RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass said police "have no reason to believe that there is any danger to the public" but in the absence of conclusive evidence "we are erring on the side of caution and not ruling out foul play."
The man is a 52-year-old whom police believe had no apparent reason to be the target of violence.
"We have a lot of pieces of the puzzle already," said Douglass. "We have several clues to aid the investigation, but we are not finished this puzzle, so if anyone has information that might help us learn what happened to this gentleman, it would be appreciated."
Investigators consider the man's medical condition "the most important thing," and so are not pressing the victim to speak until fully cleared by staff at University Hospital.
