The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of the man who died Thursday in a motor vehicle incident south of Bear Lake.

He was Fredrick Nathan Gouschuk, aged 46, of Prince George.

Gouschuk was the driver of a five-ton utility truck that collided with a tractor-trailer unit at the intersection of Highway 97 and the Hart Sawmill Road at about 5:35 p.m. Police had determined Gouschuk had driven into the semi's path as he was turning onto the highway.

This area, which is about 72 kilometres north of Prince George and eight kilometres south of Bear Lake, was at the time experiencing heavy snow that led to virtual white-out conditions, the Coroners Service said Tuesday.

Gouschuk was pronounced dead at the scene.
